About Cameron Leung
Hi! I'm Cameron Leung, a Menlo-Atherton high school student who is passionate about spreading Mental Health awareness and reducing stigmas surrounding mental health. I love soccer, hanging out with friends, and doing the things I love. I have been a member of SafeSpace for more than 2 years, which is a youth-led mental health organization aiming to reduce mental health stigmas and change the conversation surrounding mental health. Living in the Bay Area and playing soccer at a high level, I am always surrounded by fierce competition and peers who all want to be very successful. However, such high standards and pressures to succeed can help push individuals to grow, but it can also be incredibly detrimental to one's mental health. In school, I often see students incredibly stressed over grades and doing well in classes, barely sleeping in order to understand material for an exam the next day. My goal, as a member of SafeSpace and the creator of this blog, is to provide people with resources necessary to manage their mental health and to spread further awareness around mental health. Mental health crises and stress are rarely touched upon in and out of schools, and many students only receive exposure to the idea later in life, if at all. I truly believe that Mental Health awareness is an important subject, and that everyone deserves the resources to stay healthy.
